Eifion Sven-Myer lives and works in Swansea where he has a studio with Elysium on the High Street. His work concerns the creation of a tension between the abstract and the figurative. He works in paint from life as well as photographic sources, often combining imagery whilst altering the scale to create his compositions. He employs notions of the human condition in his work, though in a form of a question rather than a statement. Through utilizing varied use of mark-making the artist intends to create a visceral effect on the viewer as they move their eye around the canvas and ruminate on the concepts that are structured into the work. These often concern identity and a sense of disquiet with the experience of our surroundings.
