I have spent many years exploring in paint the emotional intricacies of the Welsh landscape in which I live, and the nature of humankind in the search to find its place by leaving marks on the earth – in the soil and by the sea.
No matter where across the world this journey takes me the problem of finding an expressive method that combined a unified emotional response which embraces both the environment and the person remained elusive.
How does one both interpret sentient beings whilst giving them a sense of place in the landscape that they inhabit and shape?
A sense of person emerging out of the landscape is the current response to this enigma. And this present series ‘ Conversations in Paint – From People To Place’ is the latest manifestation of this endeavour.
