This is a taster course which will focus on the creative side of photography without getting weighed down by the technical aspect of photography, which will allow for you to develop your creative ideas and style. The course is designed for adults, open to all abilities, whether you’ve always had a passion for photography but don’t know where to start or if you are already a budding photographer this will give you grounding and direction in understanding the roots and creative possibilities that photography brings.
What you will learn
In the first workshop we will explore what makes an Iconic photograph. There will be practical exercises exploring composition, photo walk. And we’ll take a look at historical and contemporary photographers who will inspire you to produce your own photographic project with starting with a photographic brief for you to take home and capture your photos ready for the following workshop.
The second workshop will focus on mono printing technique and photography, we will explore photographic artists/scientists who have experimented with photography and we will share and receive feedback on your completed photo brief from the previous workshop.
What equipment is required
The camera you use is individual to you, it could be a smart phone camera, digital camera or an analogue camera, and all mono – printing materials in the 2nd workshop are provided.
A bit about myself
I graduated in 2003 with have a BA(Hons) in Photography in the Arts and in 2009 completed aPGCE in Further and Higher Education from the University of Wales Trinity St Davids. Since then I have worked as practicing artist/educator collaborating with many artists, arts organisations, Health Care Boards and recently had my worked published in a peer review journal with Swansea University.
