Lauren’s practice is context-reflective and is largely communicated through time based media and performance. Theatricality, human connectedness, romanticised ideals and the boundaries between fiction and reality are the themes that run throughout her work.
During her period of residence at Eilysium gallery, she will explore these themes by traversing Swansea and creating an active dialogue between the studio and the city, using the studio as a place for re-interpretation and the city as a venue for re-presenting.
Recent presentations of Lauren’s work include: Rhôd in Roath (Made in Roath 2016), Connections Open Studio (Kultivera Artist Residency in Tranås, Sweden 2016), Y Môr – Bygones of Penarth (Penarth Pier 2016) Bread and Jam – To Be Converted (52 Whitbread Road, London 2016) and Castell Celf (Artist in Residence at Castell Coch 2015). She is also co-founder of artist-led organisation, Site Sit, which engages artists with place by producing opportunities for artists to temporarily ‘inhabit’ different locations, situations and sites.
Lauren will be in the residency space at our High Street Studios between April and and July 2017.
There will be an exhibition of the work Lauren produces during her residency at elysiumgallery, College Street between 15th September and 14th October 2017.
