Will’s inspirations come from the work that is done in the design and concept art of films and games, which uses digital artwork. Using mainly Photoshop Will creates pieces using digital painting techniques, and partly combining this with traditional methods of pencil and oil paint. Creating work with a concept in mind, will is currently looking to historical and mythical subjects as a source of interest, and builds on those sources to create pieces which display these subjects with his creative input shown through the design and composition. Will also creates illustrative pieces exploring interesting imagery and uses techniques learnt from his time focusing on concept design. These illustrative pieces mainly look at figure work and portraiture.
Born and growing up in the west midlands in Worcestershire, Will has always had a passionate for drawing and artwork. From secondary school onward, art has been a main focus in Will’s education, going through art GCSE and A level in Chipping Campden high school, and through to a foundation art course at Worcester tech. From this Will has spent time on a game design course in Leicester, then moving on to illustration course at Swansea metropolitan, and is currently finishing his third year. During his time at Swansea, Will took part in the event known as Sink at the Sin city club, which involved mural drawing with a team of artists during a club event Saturday evenings. Will spent a period of time during his third year working an internship at the Swansea TV studios for the TV series Da Vinci’s demons, working alongside their concept design team.
