Art in the Bar – Laurentina Miksys: Motherland

Event Details

Laurentina Miksys photography is associated with the constant creation of new forms, the mutual penetration of the past and the present.

Her photography explores various levels of reality: the reality of who or what is described by the image and the reality of experience and feeling – whether the subject’s, the viewers, or her own. This is what we bring to the image and, once transformed, take it away with us. The reality of life is described in her photographs as a continuous but changing whole. ‘It is like the pulse of life’.

MOTHERLAND is a creative collaboration between photographer Laurentina, and songwriter Angharad Jenkins. ‘MOTHERLAND is an invitation to embrace the power of motherhood as a universal force, transcending borders, cultures, and languages. It is a celebration of the unconditional love, resilience, and transformation that lie at the heart of the maternal experience.

‘Through this collection of photographs, I hope to ignite conversations, challenge preconceived notions, and inspire a renewed sense of gratitude for the remarkable women who have nurtured us all’.

Laurentina is a portrait photographer originally from Lithuania and currently studying MA Contemporary Dialogues Photography at UWTSD.
