Situated in the elysiumgallery High Street studios, the is this/this is test-bed space is primarily used by residency artists and the elysiumgallery studios community. The aim is to enable artists to work and experiment towards creating new work in an environment outside of their usual studio practice in preparation for critical discussions within the group. The space enables artists to develop, to build, to take risks, to test and to invite there peers to see the work in progress.
elysium studios Mansel street artist Dalit Leon has been the latest residence in the High Street studios project space. Dalit is a painter/ drawer/ printmaker and is currently working towards a solo exhibition with elysiumgallery later this year. This is the first of two stays in the project space.
She completed a BA in Fine Art at Swansea Metropolitan University in 2010 and an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London in 2013.
The artist will be creating a new body of work for her exhibition seeking, through the subject of landscape and space, to explore the relationship between symbolic and material language, to visualize and question the overlapping realities of sense perception, cultural and historical readings, as well as deep consciousness- mythical and primordial histories. Dalit will be talking about her plans for her exhibition and the new direction her work is taking.
The is this/ this is… project space talks are only open to elysium studios artists and their guests.
