‘The enormity of things happening around us is enfeebling and art is overshadowed by real events making it difficult for these two sensibilities to merge and engage with one another. The side that reacts to events around us, and the side which tries to make art, either have to divorce or adopt a policy of rapprochement’.

Andrew Cooper studied at Cardiff College of Art & Design and the Royal College of Art, London. During this time he worked with the renowned sculptor Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, EPR Architects and Pentagram Design. Relocating to Cardiff he moved his studio practice into tactileBosch Studios, Cardiff. He continues to exhibit nationally and internationally and has secured a number of prestigious awards and commissions from both arts and business bodies.

This immersive installation exhibition which pulls strands from different stages of the artists long career is a part of elysium gallery’s 10th anniversary celebrations which will include a city wide open studio event throughout the day. 12-3pm at Mansel St, 3 – 6pm at Orchard St and then 6 – 8.30 pm at College St Studios followed by a party at the Hat Stand Bar, 55 Walter Road from 9pm.
