Rupture
31st July 7pm – 10pm
Two artists from University of Wales Trinity St. Davids Swansea will take residence at elysiumgallery for over 2 weeks this summer. Their work meditates upon the concept of identity against the backdrop of today’s collective isolation and inequality. Spanning themes of culture, urban/rural issues, mental health and employment, they present works that urge the audience to take a moment to consider their own place in the world and encourage an awareness of the fact that, despite the profit-driven divide and conquer values foisted onto us by the commercial media and reinforced through aspirational “entertainment”, we are still united in our humanity beneath the superficial strictures of modern life.
These are personal, but also universal issues which resonate with many people, and the artists’ will be allowing the public to see them at work which they hope will engage the visitors to inspire meaningful dialogue and effect personal change.
