The ESPY photography award in partnership with Swansea College of Art & elysiumgallery
What:
The espy photography award for 2017 is now open for submissions. This year we have removed the categories allowing greater freedom for photographers to send in images on projects they are interested in.
ESPY photography award has got extra exhibition space this year to show case more photographers and include the self-published books. A total of three exhibitions, in elysiumgallery, Round Reading Room, and the Grand Theatre will run across Swansea all opening at the same time.
Submission fee:
£20 per photographer for exhibition prize submission
£15 for the photobook prize submission
Photographers can enter both if they wish.
The Work:

For the exhibition prize please submit 5-10 images from one body of work

For the photobook prize please submit 1 self published book
-
A short statement of no more than 200 words to explain the context of the series or book.

Work should not to be mounted or framed.

Elysium gallery will be exhibiting prints only (exhibition prize) or the self published book (photobook prize)

Work should be professionally printed (this can be done by elysiumgallery at a reduced rate)

Do not send any additional information with the images for the selection.

The photographers that are shortlisted will be contacted for statements, CV’s etc

Each jpeg file must be 300 dpi minimum 800 pixels wide, max 3 MB each file

Each file must be numbered and titled in the following way:

The body of the email must include a full list of attached JPEGS and correct order they should be view. Your full name, phone number, email address, postal address

What happens next:

Selection process will take place between 2nd -12th July 2017

Shortlisted photographers will notified on the July14th 2017

The 43 shortlisted applicants for the print exhibition and the 25-30 book entrants will be posted on the website and blog and an email will be sent requesting more information.

Overall winners of both prizes will be announced on the opening night 18th August 2017 at elysiumgallery

Terms and Conditions
Consignment & Exhibition agreement:

Selected photographers, when notified, will be sent an exhibition contract to sign and return by email or with the prints. Photographs will not be exhibited without this paperwork.
Delivery and Handling:
-
Work must be clearly labelled with name, address & email. The photographer is responsible for delivery of the work to the gallery by the deadline stated. Late work will not be exhibited.

The photographer is responsible for insurance of the work for both delivery of the work, duration of the exhibition and the return of the work. The gallery agrees to abide by any special handling instructions as outlined by the photographer.

Work will only be returned if the photographer arranges return postage or sends funds for postage.
Sale of Work

The gallery is authorized to sell work on behalf of the artist during the exhibition period. Elysium gallery will take 30% commission.
Loss, damage and insurance:

The gallery shall not be responsible for loss, damage or deterioration of work. The gallery agrees to immediately notify the artist of any deterioration or damage to the work but will not effect any repairs. Adequate insurance of works in the above exhibition period is the responsibility of the artist.
Copyright & ownership:

USE RIGHTS: Each artist retains all copyrights to their own images. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. By submission for judging, artists whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant ESPY the right to use their images for the purpose of promoting the artist, promoting the ESPY and elysiumgallery programs, promoting exhibitions and subsequent display on the ESPY website of current and past exhibitions. Promotions and images may also be placed on social networks for ESPY with artist credit. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact or compensation from the ESPY.

Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all photographers worldwide, both amateur and professional. ESPY invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions.

Exhibit Prints: All images accepted for exhibition must be printed professionally no framing or mounting of the prints is required for the exhibition at elysiumgallery. To encourage participation by photographers from around the world, we have made this an un-mounted print exhibition, making it easier for artists from around the world to send their prints

Acceptance Notice: Everyone who submits will receive an email notification of which images were accepted.
