Movement81 are Swansea-based electronic duo Jason & Becky. Developing from both 80s and 90s influences, their electronic music and live A/V performances meander between uplifting dance and pensive minimal techno, blending resampled audio and visuals with new and original material. Their debut release, X/Y, considers the struggle to escape the societal constraints of binary classification, pairing melancholic beats and electronica with visual samples from Jørgen Leth’s ‘The Perfect Human’ (1968). A typical track is recorded live and in one take using Eurorack Modular, AKAI MPC Live and Ableton. When not producing electronic music, Jason&Becky are practicing fine artists who create immersive and participatory audio-visual installation-based work.
These Thrilling Lies
Described by one gig goer as ‘something like if The Stooges and The Doors got together and had a baby’ by another as simply ‘brutal’ and by yet another as ‘loud’.
We get our groove on at Soundhaven Studios, constantly honing a set of brash garage punk, political angst and wide eyed, spaced out psychedelia (sometimes all at the same time!).
