In 2013 Grant Sharkey embarked upon a mission to release an album every 6 months for the next 20 years and see, armed primarily with a double bass, how far it got him.

With a live show that combines music, comedy and chaos, he’s performed over 1000 shows from living rooms and to gardens to appearances at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Bestival Festivals. 2 years at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and supported a diverse range of artists such as The Lounge Kittens, Mike Watt, Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, SK Shlomo, Electric Six, K*nt and the Gang, Dodgy, Beans On Toast, Attila the Stockbroker and Andrew O’Neill.

Each /40 album is written as their own entire project to reflect the half a year before their release. 5/40: Goon is a musical about the life cycle of a Nigel Farage. 7/40: Hot Lumps was all about the COP21 climate change summit. 12/40: Beasts was was a mainly instrumental album featuring long-term drummer friend, Dave Allon.

18/40: Wolk Music – for Children, Fascists & Grown-Ups (Nov 2021) focuses primarily on the growing culture war being waged in the UK by powerful forces intent on poisoning our lives and minds.

In 2021, Grant wrote and released two books. ‘Excellent Choice: Essays on Trying to be Good in a Horrible World’ (non-fiction) and ‘The Wrong Side of the Wye’ (fiction) released through his own imprint, Hobo Sapien Press.
