Elysium gallery and bar presents live music from Lyn Mackay (hits from a variety of eras) and supported by her son Scott Mackay
Lyn is a classically trained pianist and has been playing piano since
the age of 7. She played her 1st pro cabaret gig in 1973 aged 15 at the
‘Townsman’ Nightclub in Swansea under her stage-name: Lyn Lawrence. Her
professional career has seen her in London as the resident
pianist/singer in the Playboy Club, Kettners as well as gracing the
stage at the famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
She has travelled extensively and honed her craft in the workingmens
clubs of South Wales/Valleys, the Midlands, South/East Coast and the
South West & North East of England. She then had residencies in Bahrain
and Sweden before featuring in the UK theatre-tour of Spring Thaw
alongside Johnny Moore, Linda Lou-Allen & Don Crann .
An accomplished Musical Director with many pit-credits to her name, she
has also written two musicals; Swansea Girls, which sold out it’s first
run and returned for a follow-up sell-out run seven months later, and
its prequel Swansea Women which ran at the Grand Theatre to great
acclaim.
Lyn served as a music teacher in a Swansea comprehensive school from
1994-2010 during which time she rose to Head of Expressive Arts, before
retiring to focus on performing and private tutoring, where she takes
pride in tutoring and mentoring a wide range of students in a number of
disciplines.
A much sought-after performer, Lyn continues to travel the world playing
to packed rooms on prestigious cruise liners. Having just returned from
a month spent on board Fred Olsen’s The Balmoral she is looking forward
to bringing her unique vivacious brand of entertainment to Elysium!
