Ryan Keyse and The Night Shift are a country rock band from
Newport making an entrance in the South Wales music scene.
Though the band is a recent formation (2024), Ryan Keyse
previously released singles as a solo artist that gained press
attention and achieved airplay on Newport City Radio, Amazing
Radio, and Future Hits.
The band have already performed a number of shows locally, including a memorable appearance at the Newport Christmas Lights celebrations in 2024. Ryan has an undeniable talent for storytelling. His songwriting introduces the listener to a cast of colourful characters and explores themes including masculinity, vulnerability, and fear, creating a powerful and emotive experience for the audience.
The band has a contemporary sound, influenced by their love
of artists such as Jason Isbell, Bruce Springsteen, Phoebe
Bridgers, and Tom Petty, blending evocative country rock
with Americana elements, the skilfully written lyrics weave
raw and honest narratives that stay with you. An original,
heartfelt style sure to draw in fans.
Recently, the band secured a coveted spot on The Ascension
Project, hosted by The Patriot Home of Rock in Crumlin, a
Creative Wales funded initiative for up and coming Welsh
musicians. This opportunity includes the professional
recording of three new songs, and concludes with a live
showcase performance this summer.
Ryan Keyse and the night shift will perform at The Edge
Festival in Solva in July.
