Windshake are a Bristol based Sextet fronted by Welsh born Songwriter Sam Elliott. He is joined on stage by the Samba influenced rhythms of longtime bandmate (highschool friend and fellow Welshman) Oliver Thomas on Drums, Danish / Irish born and Spanish raised (to put a long story short) Ambient / Experimental Guitarist Killian Lee, Jazz Pianist Jeevith Gnanakumaran, Cardiff University School of Music’s Blyth Bennett on Sax, and their latest addition, Jazz Bassist Maxwell Killing.
The band will soon be releasing Singles from their self produced second album ‘Klipso Crewso & The Brass Bandits’ which is due for release late 2024. This album marks a departure from the Folk / Psychedelia influences of their previous releases. Listeners can expect electronia, funk, pop, ethereal vocal harmonies, and lyrical content delving into the birth of Artificial Intelligence and the struggles of old souls living in an online world.
Windshake are currently working on their third album. With the addition of new band members Jeev, Blyth and Max, they have been delving deeper into their Art Rock, Prog, and Jazz influences, building a sonically rich and experimental sound that is better listened to than described (available via the SoundCloud Link below).
Their new live sound has been well received. With the band recently performing to a packed out Ill Repute at Bristol’s Outertown festival. With more festival appearances planned for the summer of 2024, alongside shows in London, Newport, Bristol and more over the coming months.
The Night School is a rock band from Swansea that performs in both English and Welsh. They are known for their rock anthems and their passion for the Welsh language and culture. Following their live performance on S4C’s Cân i Gymru with their single “Melys,” their first album “Dianc” came out in 2023, combining their distinctive rock sound and storytelling abilities.
Their new EP Llond Bol, which was supported by the BBC Horizons fund, sees them exploring a wider range of rock styles, from the short and catchy Rhiannon, the heavier seafaring epic Codi’r Faner (Barti Ddu), to the piano-driven rock ballad of Byd ar Dân. One thing they haven’t had a “Llond Bol” of is making contemporary rock music in Cymraeg.
Epileptic Lizards are a psych-rock band from Cardiff who have been wowing audiences with their funk-fuelled psych rock.
The Serene Scene are an alternative rock band from South Wales and we can’t wait for them to make their Elysium debut.
Free entry. Music from 8pm.
