It has been reported that very few employers consider neurodiversity in their recruitment practices, even though up to 1 in 4 people in the UK are neurodivergent (ND).
elysium gallery has constantly worked with neurodivergent artists throughout its history and is itself a neurodivergent led organisation. Despite many artists being neurodivergent, or self-diagnosed as such, there is still a lack of employment opportunities and support for ND artists in the creative industries.
As a result, elysium gallery and its partners Taliesin Arts Centre, Shine Cymru and ASDES have set up the Creative Neurodivergent Networks project aimed at facilitating a series of workshops and networking activities for ND participants to develop their own creative projects and new skills.
elysium gallery are seeking 5 neurodivergent and/or autistic artists aged 18-25 from Swansea who wish to gain experience assisting with and running workshops and events. We will provide 1-2-1 mentoring and lots of great training opportunities, as well as paid workshop experience.
Initially we will be running a series of taster sessions with ND artists assisting the elysium and Taliesin workshop leaders in film making, clay and animation, music, drama, spray painting, painting and costume making. These will then be followed by a series of workshops/activities led by the ND artists assisted by elysium and Taliesin artists.
