Artist talk: 2nd December 11am

An exhibition of new work from Swansea based artist Jessica Hoad.
Through a varied sculptural practice her work focuses on our intuitive response to situations, objects, sounds and spaces.

In her first solo exhibition, this work brings together fragments of very specific material to explore the negotiation of a boundary between coexisting spaces real or imagined.

This ongoing project explores ideas of vulnerability and resilience by experimenting with materials and processes. Referencing colour and form, the work attempts to make sense of an abstract recurring dream investigating cross overs in consciousness and time.

The work is encountered throughout from the periphery. Trying to make sense of snippets of sound or blurred objects, such as faint audio of strangers shouting to one another and items collected from de-ja-vu experiences.

We are invited to literally step in to the work with a display of foam impression boxes and experience the artists aversion to a certain colour and texture of fragments of space ice cream in an enlarged digital print.

The ideas for this work were initiated during a period of research and development during a residency offsite with The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.

Jessica  Hoad  studied Fine Art at Oxford BrookesUniversity and an MA at UWTSD. She recently exhibited at OVADA as part of Photo Oxford 2017
