Speaker: Lauren Heckler Date: Weds April 7th, 2021 7:30 PM UK time IMAGE:Re-enactment of school photo with Raymond Williams in, Site Sitexperimental studio residency at Melville Centre of the Arts 2020. This talk will put into conversation individual creative sensibility andcollective art making. Reflecting on Lauren’s personal sketchbook ideas,her collaborative practice Site Sit with artist Sophie Lindsey, being amember of the art collective SUll, a fine art lecturer and more. Shewill be considering what links things together, defining a specialism,and where the joy is. Lauren is currently working on Temporarily Here to Stay, a StudioResponse public art commission for a housing development in Cowbridge;sitting on the outcomes of an experimental studio residency at theMelville Centre of the Arts, Abergavenny; exhibiting a performance forcamera work at Ty Pawb Open; and wondering how to produce the postponedinternational mobile residency, Artist as Map Maker. Lauren grew up in Llansteffan, a village at the mouth of the Towyestuary in south Wales, studied a BA in Fine Art Critical Practice atUniversity of Brighton, and is now based and working from Abergavenny.
